First Act! is a theater class that teaches acting, character development, stage management and design. Participants will gain an appreciation for theater production and learn what goes on behind the stage. They will do warm up activities, acting games, improv, and play analysis. Students will perform a short play on the last day for parents and friends. This class will help the out-going child focus their energies and shy child to come out of their shell.
Classes take place on Wednesdays, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at the Springfield Township Community Art Center, Building A, behind the fire station, at 9150 Winton Road.

Nancy Pushkar is an actress, acting coach, screenwriter, and artist. She uses her talents in every aspect of her life. She studied performance, technical theater and fine art at Northern Kentucky University, as well as studied acting on the east and west coasts. She continues to study with acting coach Lana Read as well as teaching and partaking in acting workshops and intensives. She has an undergrad degree in art education and a masters degree in psychology. She has had two gallery shows in the past three years, one of her photography and one of her drawings.
Nancy is the owner Crazy Lady Productions and has produced and acted a film short, Coffee and Cheese Crowns, which she has co-written. She continues to write film shorts and is currently writing a feature film. Nancy is delighted to be coaching acting to talented teens and tweens. Her students have been the inspiration for two shorts she has written, one now in post-production.
Nancy is the co-owner of 5544 Entertainment with Lana Read. Promoting film, theater and the arts in the tri-state area.

Class Cancellations & Weather Closings
A minimum of four students must be enrolled for the session prior to the stated deadline for the class to take place (maximum 12 students). The Springfield Township Senior and Community Arts Center follows Finneytown School District inclement weather closings. To verify closings, call 513-522-2108.
Due to costs incurred in planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the Arts Council cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student. Refunds will be made by check, not to a credit card. To notify us of a cancellation, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
