ArtsConnect is partnering with Performing Arts Inc. to offer children’s theater experiences. This program is appropriate for any experience level, beginner to advanced. There will be 8 weeks of rehearsals and then 2 community performances held at Finneytown High School Performing Arts Center. Theater classes help to build confidence, strengthen their voice, broaden their skills and talent, and connect with friends.

Auditions:

Auditions are used only for assigning parts. Everyone will be assigned a role in the show. Children will engage in a short audition on the Tuesday before the rehearsals begin. The Jungle Book audition will be on February 20. Students will be asked to recite a very short monologue and sing a 30-second song. Parents will be emailed a sample monologue and sign-up information for the audition a week before rehearsals begin. 

Rehearsals:

Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at ArtConnect Arts Center, 9158 Winton Rd, Cincinnati, 45231. ArtsConnect is the building behind the Springfield Township Fire Station.

Performances:

Performances will be held at Finneytown High School Performing Arts Center at 8916 Fountainbleau Terrace. There will be two performances. Tickets for each show will be $10.  Bring your whole family to support the amazing young actors!

Students will be asked to provide their own costumes and make-up. Costume rentals are available for those interested.

KIDS THEATER DIRECTOR:

Emma King has a BFA in Stage Management at CCM in the University of Cincinnati. She was the director of Lion King Kids, ArtsConnects' first Kids Theater program.  She has also directed and assistant directed many shows including: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, 13 the Musical, Legally Blonde, and The Addams Family, to name a few. She has also served as the Production Stage Manager for numerous shows including Little Shop of Horrors, Newsies, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Emma is overjoyed to have the opportunity to give kids a safe space to make mistakes and have fun creating theatre. She loves watching everyone grow as performers and people, and can’t wait to see what PAI’s newest performers bring to the stage.
