Keeping Our Classes Safe

All staff and teachers will wear masks or face shields. Currently all students are required to wear masks in class.  If you do not have a mask and would like one, cloth masks can be purchased from the Harper Studio. Disposable masks are available to seniors and to students at no cost, while supplies last. These are available at the front desk and with your teacher.

All guests will be asked to check-in at the front desk. If you have a membership, your ID will be scanned. If you do not have a membership, you will be asked for your name and phone number. (The line may extend outside. Please use the stickers on the ground and maintain social distancing.) This is asked for so that contact tracing is easy and effective.

The checkout counter has a plexiglass barrier. The counter, as well as all high touch areas will be wiped down frequently.

Anyone taking a class will be asked to either wash their hands or use hand sanitizer right before class starts. Most classrooms have sinks in the room.

Classrooms will seat 1 person per table. (Tables are 5’)

Students will be asked to wipe down their own areas, including their chair several minutes before the end of class. Classrooms, including the sinks and all high touch areas, will be disinfected by the instructor after each class.

Any shared tools will be sprayed down between use by students.

Parents and caregivers will be permitted to enter the classroom to pick up and drop off their child.

Art aprons can be checked out with your teacher or at the front desk for open studios. Aprons will be washed after every use. There are a limited number of aprons available, and they may not always be available. It is advised that you bring your own apron if you have one.

Towels in the pottery studio will be clearly marked as clean or dirty. If you use a towel, please discard it into the designated dirty laundry basket so it can be cleaned.

Please bring your own eyewear for the woodshop. If you forget to bring your own, you may check out a pair of protective glasses. Eyewear will be washed in the dishwasher after every use.

Music classes will be offered online and in person with the use of a plexiglass barrier.

Coffee can be purchased at the front desk. ($2.25 cup or just $2.00 with refills all day for members) We will issue a new cup with each refill. Staff will fill your coffee for you if there is not a line at the desk. If there is a line, you may self-serve. Sugars and creamers are available at the front desk.

All staff and teachers will self-check and record their temperature before every class.

The Cardinal Room, Buckeye Room and Winton Room can be rented for private events. Springfield Township staff will set the room up under guidelines established by the State of Ohio Health Department. The reduced maximum occupancies and room set up cannot be changed. The renter must provide a designated hand sanitizing station and provide all necessary supplies for the sanitizing station. Buffet-style food lines are not permitted. A server must be designated by the party to serve food and beverages. Servers must wear a mask and gloves, which must be provided by the renter. All rental guests must check in at the front desk. Guest names and phone numbers will be documented for contact tracing. Renters are required to take their trash bags out to the dumpster. The room will be sanitized after the rental has ended.

If a guest or staff tests positive for COVID-19, they are not to return for 14 days. Every room of the Arts Center will be sterilized. If the guest was participating in a class, the class members will be notified, however anonymity will be kept.
