Ages 14 and older, Thursday, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Are you ready to get in shape? Join Ellen as she teaches Low Impact Aerobics to fun and upbeat music. This Low Impact Aerobics class promotes physical fitness and helps increase lifestyle awareness to all ages and fitness levels.  Ellen will individually modify to benefit each student based on what fitness level they are at.  You can register for the 6-week session for only $20 or just come when you can and pay a drop in fee of $4.  Classes are Thursdays from 11 am - 12 pm held at the newly renovated ArtsConnect Arts Center in Springfield Township, 9158 Winton Road, Building A, behind the fire station.

YOGA CLASSES

ArtsConnect provides several Yoga classes to enrich your mind, body and soul! Our experienced instructors teach a variety of Yoga techniques.  Register for Morning Chair Yoga that uses chairs and props as the foundation or Evening Yoga which is a combination of floor and standing poses.  Both classes  help participants use breathing, relaxation and meditation to calm the mind and yoga stretches to strengthen the body. Instructors use modifications for students of all levels, beginner to advanced.

Register for the 6-week session for $50 or come whenever you can and pay a drop-in fee of $10 per class. Those registering for the session get one free lesson. Classes are held on Thursdays, with Chair Yoga in the morning, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and Yoga in the evening,  6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at ArtsConnect Springfield Township Community Arts Center, 9158 Winton Rd, Building A, behind the fire station.

PLEASE BRING A YOGA MAT.

Online Option Available
ArtsConnect offers an online option for those not ready to do in-person classes yet. We will have a camera set up during class so students can join the class from their home. Participants will need to download the free program- Zoom prior to the beginning of the session.  The instructor will email students an invitation link for the class. 

When registering for the class, select which method of participation you want:  in-person or online.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is taught by Tamara White, an Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner and certified Yoga instructor. In this class, Tamara will discuss the power of self-care through yoga.  Class will begin with breathing and meditation, then a yoga sequence will help improve balance, strength and flexibility.  Participants will learn how to add yoga to their daily lives. Online classes are available.

Evening Yoga

Yoga is taught by, Claudia López, a certified yoga instructor with over 20 years of yoga experience.  Claudia uses an invigorating Jivamukti style of yoga that encourages students to explore their own personal language of movement.  Claudia modifies the class to fit the needs of each student so beginners - advanced are welcome. Participants learn to reconnect their present awareness with their physical body. Re-establishing this relationship has been shown to increase focus, productivity, and ability to recover from everyday stress. Appropriate for all levels.

Participants should bring a yoga mat.

Yoga Instructors:

Chair Yoga Instructor:  Tamara White

Tamara is a Nurse Practitioner for adults and geriatrics.  She uses yoga everyday with her patients helping them to breath and to be more present. Tamara believes that 'Motion is Lotion' to our joints and moving is vital to our health. Tamara uses Yoga techniques in her classes to teach students how to move and stretch properly.  Her chair yoga class helps students with balance, flexibility and strength which are key to living a  meaningful life.

Evening Yoga Instructor: 

Claudia López

Claudia’s classes are infused with the wisdom of mindfulness practice. Claudia is a 300-Hour Jivamukti Yoga Instructor. She has 20 years of experience practicing yoga. Claudia studied Jivamukti Yoga with Sharon Gannon and David Life, creators of the Jivamukti Yoga method. Claudia also completed an Apprenticeship program with local renowned Movement Specialist and Artist, Fanchon Shur. 

Claudia was previously an international humanitarian worker throughout several countries in Africa and South America. She is currently the founder and CEO of Profluence, a business coaching organization. Claudia is an executive coach for businesses combining methodology of mind, body, and data.

Class Cancellations & Weather Closings

A minimum of four students must be enrolled for the session prior to the stated deadline for the class to take place (maximum 12 students). The Springfield Township Senior and Community Arts Center follows Finneytown School District inclement weather closings. To verify closings, call 513-522-2108. 

Due to costs incurred in planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the Arts Council cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student. Refunds will be made by check, not to a credit card. To notify us of a cancellation, please send an email to artsinfo@springfieldtwp.org.
