Introduction to Picture Framing

Ages 14 and older, Tuesday, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

$60 for non-members per 4 week session
$54.00 for members per 4 week session

Introduction to Picture Framing is a class where participants will learn the importance of framing artwork and the history of picture framing.  The basics of frame design will be taught such as how to measure and cut mats, glass, and moulding.  This is a perfect class for working artists!

Supplies provided.

Advanced Picture Framing

Ages 14 and older, Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

$100 for non-members per 6 week session
$90 for members per 6 week session

The Advanced Picture Framing class is for the participant who is ready to cut mats, glass, and picture frame moulding.  The Introduction to Picture Framing is a prerequisite to the Advanced Picture Framing Class. Participants must know how to arrive at an overall size for the mats, glass, and frame moulding before taking this class.  An understanding of mat design is necessary. In the class, participants will cut the matboard, glass, and the moulding.  They will mount the artwork and miter the corners of the frame.

This hands-on class has a $25 supply fee figured into the overallclass fee. All supplies, including frame moulding, is provided. Participants are asked to bring their own artwork that does not exceed 8" x 11".

Supplies provided.

Participants are to bring:  Artwork, goggles and 1 pair of thin, cotton gloves (can be found at hardware stores).

Our Instructor:  Willie Evans

Willie Evans is an artist and framer and the owner of Art Expectations, Ltd., custom wall art designs for commercial and residential clients.  Mr. Evans has been involved in framing since the middle 1970s.  He is a native of Crawfordville, Georgia but spent most of his life in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He learned framing design and techniques through several framing schools affiliated with the Professional Picture Framers Association.  Mr. Evans completed his advanced training in 1986.  Through the 1980s, he operated several framing shops.  He has since offered framing as a mobile service.  Mr. Evans is known for his work with many local galleries.  Many clients of his comment on his patience, his precision, and his keen eye for color and moulding choices.
