Sewing/Hand Embroidery Workshop

Basic Sewing Class:

Learn how to find and follow a pattern, use a machine, and sew a finished product. 
Instructor Heidi Rice will walk participants through the steps of learning how to sew with a machine.


Learn the basic stitches involved in hand embroidery.  Create a stitch samplers as practice and then get started on a project to showcase your new skills.  Learn backstitch, French knot, chain stitch, blanket stitch and lazy daisy!

All materials will be provided, embroidery hoop, fabric, thread, and needle.

NOW is the time to try this art form!

Wednesday Workshop: Beginning Sewing to be held, July 11, 2018 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

In the Art Room at our Community Art Center, second building back on the campus at 9150 Winton Road.

The cost is $45 per participant.  Supplies are provided but participants for Beginning Sewing must bring a sewing machine.  Ages 12 and older may take class!

Heidi Rice

Heidi Rice is a Springfield Township resident, wife and mother of three.  She learned to sew as a pre-teen in the 4-H program.  Heidi enjoys creating--Home DIY projects, baking, quilting, garment making, knitting, crochet, cross stitch, and embroidery.  

Heidi taught sewing and quilting classes for 4 years at Sewn Studio.  She enjoys teaching people the joy and relaxation that creating can bring.  She loves to teach participants that the craft of sewing and quilting can be trendy and modern. It is possible to sew stylish garments or make quilts that are either traditional, or works of modern art.  The possibilities are endless when creating with fabric and thread!
