Private Piano Lessons
Lollipop Music Class Interested, REGISTER HERE!
ages 5-6, Tuesday, 4:00-4:25 p.m.
$35 for non-members per 6 week session
$31.50 for members per 6 week session.
This class is offered for young children, ages 5-6, whose fingers are not quite ready for the piano keyboard. Using the Orff Schulwerk approach, participants will learn to play pitches and rhythms by using other instruments. The knowledge they gain through movement, song, and improvisation will translate to the piano keyboard when their fingers are ready. The Lollipop Music Class is offered in six week sessions.
Partner Piano Lessons
ages 6-7, Tuesday, 30 minute lesson,
$100 for non-members per 8 week session
$90.00 for members per 8 week session

Partner Piano Lessons allow 2-3 participants of the same age to come together for a lesson. They will have 15 minutes off of the piano sing songs, walk, and write. They will then have 15 minutes for working on the piano. Piano "songs" are assigned to practice 2-3 times during the week. The participants will play these songs at their next lesson and at the year end recital. Partner Piano Lessons is offered in 8 week sessions.
Private Piano Lessons
ages 7 and older, Tuesday, 30 minute lessons,
$200 for non-members per 8 week sessioncall to schedule a lesson between 4:30 - 8:30 p.m.
$180 for members per 8 week session
Private lessons begin with a 30 minute consultation to determine the participant's level and goals. Together, the participant and the teacher will identify an agenda, a practice commitment and schedule, choice of music style, and the type of support needed to commit to the year of private lessons. Private Piano Lessons are offered in 8 week sessions with the exception of Session 3 which is a 6 week session. A summer and winter recital are scheduled on 6/6/19 and 12/12/19.

When you begin your lessons, we will evaluate your musical skills before starting lessons.Together, we will determine whether you will study with Dr. John or Ms. Suzanne. A program tailored to your skill level will be developed for you with materials which we can offer to you. We will consult with each other on your progress and provide evaluations throughout the process.
If you decide after a 6 week session to continue lessons then we can include you in:
- Bi-annual recitals and
- MTNA festival auditions opportunity to earn
an award for your progress!
- Other opportunities may arise for you as well.

Suzanne and John Carpentar
Ms. Suzanne is a highly trained and experienced teacher. She has studied at Oberlin College and Conservatory while attending grade school. She attended school at Interlochen Arts Academy. She has her Bachelor of Fine Arts in music (and art, drama, dance and creative writing) from the University of Connecticut and Masters studies at Antioch in Special Education. She taught at East Manhattan School for Bright and Gifted in New York, taught in Mt. Healthy schools preK-12, and has run 3 piano studios.
Masters of Music from Manhattan School of Music and Bachelor’s in Music from Manhattan school of Music. He has recently played in the Los Angeles area with the orchestra and at the NAMM monster concerts and with the Dayton philharmonic. Dr. John won first place in the BMTA international piano competition in the solo division. He plays the traditional service for Mother of God in Covington and for the Wyoming Choir, and has a Radio show on WAIF 88.3 F.M. in Cincinnati, “Music Making Together – a building community program”.
Class Cancellations & Weather ClosingsA minimum of four students must be enrolled for the session prior to the stated deadline for the class to take place (maximum 12 students). The Springfield Township Senior and Community Arts Center follows Finneytown School District inclement weather closings. To verify closings, call 513-522-2108.
Due to costs incurred in planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the Arts Council cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student. Refunds will be made by check, not to a credit card. To notify us of a cancellation, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
