The Essentials of Oil Painting
Have you wanted to learn how to paint? This class is for you with its introduction to color theory, paint mixing and painting techniques. Participants will learn the essential techniques of oil painting through direct observation. Exercises and handouts will help to teach participants how to compose a painting, emphasize a focal point and create a mood.
Classes will take place on Wednesdays for 6 weeks from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the art room at Ohio Living Llanfair Retirement Community Center from January - June 2020 during our renovation
Class Supply List: Participants will be asked to bring their own supplies. The instructor will email the participants a supply list prior to the first class.
Minimum: 5 students Maximum: 8 students

Meet our Instructor: Charlie Berger
Charlie Berger is a professional artist and sculptor with more than 35 years of teaching experience, most recently as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Design at DAAP at the University of Cincinnati. Charlie holds a B.A. in Art from Dickinson College and a M.F.A. from the School of Art in the College of DAAP at the University of Cincinnati. He is an energetic and articulate educator with significant and in-depth teaching, teacher training, and management experience. Charlie has developed curricula, courses, and written and edited books and articles for techniques, materials, and artistic methods. He holds classes at multiple locations in Cincinnati. His greatest pleasure comes from helping adults and younger artists develop creativity and significant skills in drawing and painting. Charlie is teaching the ArtsConnect Drawing Class on Thursdays 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. and the ArtsConnect Painting Class on Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
