ABOUT ARTSCONNECT - ArtsConnect is a non-profit arts organization in partnership with Springfield Township. The organization runs community events, classes and volunteer projects year-round as a way to connect the local public. With a focus on the arts, we serve to provide a higher quality of life through social connectedness and exposure to the arts.

We offer an 8 week, full-day summer art camp program with after care. We are now accepting applications for two lead counselors, two assistant counselors, and two after-care assistant counselors. ArtsConnect Kids Camp

8 weeks of camp:  9 a.m. - 4 p.m., 6/4/18 - 8/3/18



Camp Hours:

9:00 a..m-4:00 p.m.
After Care:  4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Lead Counselor Hours:

8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Assistant Counselor Hours:

  8:30 - 4:30 p.m.
40 children maximum, 14 kids minimum

Camp Location 

The camp takes place at the Springfield Township Senior & Community Arts Center,
the second building back on the campus at 
9150 Winton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231.

Four Counselors will be hired:

2 Lead Counselors, $15.50 per hour
2 Assistant Counselors, $8.75 per hour

Campers will be required to pack a lunch, a snack, and a refillable water bottle for each day. A healthy mid-afternoon snack will be supplied to campers.  Counselors will want to pack their lunches and snacks as well.

Lead Counselor Description:

The Lead Counselor is a preservice art education student or a certified art educator.  The Lead Counselor will co-construct the curriculum with the Art Education Director to incorporate each week's theme and art projects to best motivate and integrate the camp philosophy and goals. He or she will prepare the daily curriculum and oversee the camp from check-in to check-out and the set-up to clean-up. The instructor will also be responsible for managing materials.

Assistant Counselor Description:

The Assistant Counselor will be responsible for a particular age group, 7-9 or 10 - 12.  He or she will assist Lead Counselors with art activities, supplies, and teaching for that particular age group.  He or she will be expected to plan and lead games, songs, and activities that compliment the art activity for each day/week. 

Type of Employment: These are full and part-time hourly positions that are not exempt from the overtime requirements of the FLSA.  These positions are seasonal (from late May through early August) and do not entitle counselors to unemployment compensation or benefits upon completion of each camp season. 

ArtsConnect Kids Camp Counselor Selection Process: Instructors must complete a camp counselor application which includes three professional references related to the program being offered. ArtsConnect will review the applications and forms submitted and will evaluate the instructors on the basis of their experience, credentials, references and background information. 

Interviews will be conducted with the camp counselors deemed qualified by ArtsConnect. Final selection of instructors shall be at the sole discretion of ArtsConnect. All instructors working with children must complete and pass a background check.
