Writing and Publishing a Novel


Ages 14 and older, Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

$85 for non-members per 6 week session
$76.50 for members per 6 week session

Want to write a book? Want to get it published? You can do it, but do it right. This session will help you put your thoughts on paper, and what to do with them from there. Gregory Petersen, author of "Open Mike," will discuss the art and business of writing and publishing a novel. Participants will begin with an idea, form multiple drafts and edit drafts.  The session will end with information on how to avoid the common pitfalls of publishing.

Supply List: Bring your manuscripts or writing samples you are currently working on.

Minimum: 3 students     Maximum: 15 students

Meet our Instructor: Gregory Petersen

Greg Petersen is a writer, editor and comedian. His fourth novel, The Dream Thief is pending publication. Open Mike, was published by Martin Sisters Publishing in 2013. He worked on a collaboration with author Nathan Singer. Together, they wrote 101 Things You Don’t Want to Hear From the Guy Next to You on the Greyhound… and Other Lists that Will Certainly Darken Your Days. Greg has performed at a number of comedy clubs including Go Bananas, Wiley's, and The Funnybone, and for charitable and corporate events.

Class Cancellations & Weather Closings

A minimum of four students must be enrolled for the session prior to the stated deadline for the class to take place (maximum 12 students). The Springfield Township Senior and Community Arts Center follows Finneytown School District inclement weather closings. To verify closings, call 513-522-1154. 

Due to costs incurred in planning for art classes, full refunds will only be issued when the Arts Council cancels the class. Class cancellations made within 10 business days of the class start date are eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administration fee per student. Refunds will be made by check, not to a credit card. To notify us of a cancellation, please send an email to artsinfo@springfieldtwp.org.
