These lunchtime concerts are held on the back deck of the Springfield Township Community Arts Center, under a canopy of trees from 11:30 - 1:00pm. No reservations needed! Open to all! You can explore the soft flow of watercolor painting. In each class, a new painting and watercolor technique will be taught. Roger will hold a demonstration - then set you free to try the new subject matter. Classes will be held once a week, for a six week session. This program is ideal for beginners, as well as advanced students. Some drawing abilities are helpful. Class members are asked to bring their own paint supplies.

Learning how to draw just became easier with step-by-step instruction from our talented drawing instructor! Classes will focus on building basic drawing techniques using proportions and contours of observed objects. The curriculum will build on itself so that participants who choose to take all 6 sessions will learn progressively. Critiques develop students’ abilities to think critically about their own work and to support other people in their own journey.

The ArtsConnect woodshop class is a semi-traditional woodshop class in which participants will learn how to create different pieces of furniture or woodworking projects. Master craftsman and artist, Patrick Walker, will guide participants through the steps of building a piece from either reclaimed or new materials. Each session is designed for participants to hone their craftsmanship and explore the reaches of their creativity.

Have you wanted to learn how to paint? This class is for you with its introduction to color theory, paint mixing and painting techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring either watercolor or acrylic paints. Exercises and handouts will help to teach participants how to compose a painting, emphasize a focal point and create a mood. Fellow participants will support each other in the process of learning how to paint what is observed.

Score, slip, and press! Those are the first steps to working in clay. Participants will learn how to make slip properly and to use hand-building techniques such as making coils and slabs. These techniques are the foundation to making clay pots. Be inspired to create the most unique pot that is possible! Clay and glaze will be supplied.

The ArtsConnect painting and drawing classes for children, ages 7 - 9, and teens, ages 10 - 13, present the opportunity for participants to dive into visual arts even deeper than they can elsewhere. The curriculum combines relevant themes, issues, and topics integrated with skill development in drawing and painting. Various drawing and painting media will be explored through studies and projects.
